WHAT WE DO

Johnson & Wales University’s Office of Instructional Design and Technology (IDT) contributes to student academic achievement by helping instructors innovate their instruction with technology in face-to-face and hybrid courses. We do this by:

• consulting with faculty to discuss and plan new teaching, learning and technology projects

• supporting JWU’s online learning spaces (e.g., ulearn) and training faculty on the optimal instructional use of these spaces

• evaluating current course design of face-to-face and hybrid courses and making recommendations to enhance the efficacy and effectiveness of course implementation

• offering faculty development courses and workshops that explore emerging technologies and pedagogical best practices to meet instructional goals

• solving instructional problems by applying evidence-based research on innovative teaching and learning practices that support interactive, student-centered learning

• providing tools, skills and support to empower self-directedness of faculty pertaining to instructional technologies

• fostering communication and collaboration within the JWU community through the sharing of our knowledge of teaching, learning and technology

GUIDING PRINCIPLES
